Books are checked out for a two week period. A book becomes overdue after that period and it may be rechecked at the time if the student needs it longer.
Overdue and Lost Books
If a book becomes overdue, the students must return the book/s before they can check out more books. If a student lets the book/s become overdue for more than a month, they will have their check out privileges suspended until the book is returned or paid for. Students who do not return overdue books by the end of the year will still be responsible for turning in the book/s and/or paying for them when the new school year starts.
If a book is lost or damaged beyond acceptable use, it must be paid for.
6th Grade Readers
Students in 6th grade who want to check out books from the high school library must turn in a signed permission from his/her parent/guardian granting permission for them to check out books from that area.
Be aware that some materials in the high school may be considered too mature for 6th grade, may contain subject matter that in inappropriate for 11 or 12 year olds, and/or may be found offensive to some people.
If a parent deems a secondary book inappropriate for his/her child, return the book to the library.
Books that are identified as MG (middle grades) are appropriate for grades 5-8. Books identified as UG (upper grades) are appropriate for grades 9-12.
